Linie58 was founded in September 2011 by Jakob Schenk.
After the successful exhibition of the Tick project at the DMY Berlin
2011 the plan of founding a company was turned into reality.
Linie58 creates innovative products "Made in Germany", which are
less based on the mainstream but rather on functional, sustainable
and aesthetical aspects. The user is always in the focus and is able
to participate in the design process.

A few years ago I owned together with a couple of friends a former
yellow VW post bus. A number was painted on its front and rear
side with black paint. It was the number 58.
The previous owner (after the post) had turned it into a caravan
and thus it offered both accommodation and space for several
passengers.
Understandably it soon was a welcome means of transport for
holidays and all kinds of activities. It became the popular
"Linie 58" (Line 58), which was going to all important events
following its own schedule.
The bus doesn´t (probably/unfortunately) exist anymore, but
all the good memories have contributed to bringing the "linie" back
to life.
The company Linie58 goes along with idealism, enthusiasm, optimism, mobility
and the desire for personal freedom, things that also characterized
that time.
